Woven textile design
& research
About
Milou Voorwinden is a textile designer and researcher specialising in weaving. In her work, she explores how weaving techniques can transform textiles from flat structures to three-dimensional objects. She’s skilled in both handweaving and industrial looms, and she has extensive jacquard design experience. In 2016, Milou graduated from the Product Design department of ArtEZ University Of the Arts in the Netherlands. After this, she worked as a jacquard designer and ran her own textile design studio. In 2023 she completed a Master in Design at the Piet Zwart Institute at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam.
Currently, Milou is a PhD candidate at the Industrial Design Engineering department at Delft University of Technology, and her research seeks to rethink woven textile design methods and processes to support textile-form design and fabrication.
